Debris in water

I have a lot of debris in my water it seems to never clear up what should I do my tank don't seem as clear as other people's I added a freshwater filter that hangs on the back today to see if that will help I am running and Reef Octopus skimmer rated up 220 gallons 120 gallons on a 75 gallon tank I'm also running gfo and carbon through a reactor any suggestions

Do you have any fish or invertebrates in the tank that are known to kick up some dust on occasion? The only remedy for particulate matter is some type of mechanical filtration IMO. It might not clear up overnight, but it will happen given time. Are you dosing anything at the moment? Calcium precipitation is another possibility, but for some reason I don't think that's the case here.

Yes I do DOS but I do not have an automatic doser I had those as needed when I test my water which is usually about every 3 days I do have fish and some invertebrates I have a magnificent Foxface for cronies One Scooter blenny one cleaner shrimp 2 nem one hippo tank two clowns one blue spotted watchman goby one pistol shrimp

What exactly are your parameters? Can you describe this particulate matter your seeing a little bit? From that list of inhabitants you posted above, the Blenny, the Goby & the Pistol shrimp are all suspect.

Ok dkh is 9.0, mag is 1200 just ed dosed 23fl oz, cal is 390 just dosed 8.8 fl oz I use bulk reef 2 part no reading on ammonia nitrite is 0 Natrate is .25 ppm and ph is 8.2

Running any charcoal? If not do so.

You can run it passively in the HOB filter. Just put the charcoal in a knee high stocking.

If that does not clear up the cloudiness try leaving the lights off for a day or so.

That does not look like debris but an algae or bacterial bloom.

No. Charcoal is a particulate and carbon refers to dosing a carbon source such as vinegar, sugar, or vodka, etc.

Have you changed out the charcoal lately?
And duh I did not see you were using charcoal in the first post.
Would you say the water is cloudy or do you see small particulate matter?

Oh look you have a pistol shrimp. My experience is that pistol shrimp can stir the sand to the point of clouding the water. If the water clears when the shrimp is molting you'll know for sure. If that is the case mechanical filtration such as sock, sponge or floss will assist in polishing the water.

As mentioned you need to run the water through a sponge, filter socks, filter floss, filter pads etc... any combination of those to remove the fine debris from the water.

I have not tested for Iodine in about 6 months. I do use one to two drops of Lugols once a week on a 45 gallon tank. Iodine is tricky and not really needed if you're doing the routine water changes in my opinion.

I have 7 in sock in a sump with refugium
