My $120 ebay RODI 3 stage unit I've been using for years has been slowly leaking and I'm finally going to replace it instead of patching it up every 3 months. Is there a decent RODI unit around $150 on amazon? Normally I would shop around other places but I have amazon gift cards I need to burn up. Size isnt an issue as it will be laundry room wall mounted and not going under a sink.

Thanks

I'm a newbie so take my reply with a grain of salt, but one of my first purchase was the AquaFX Barracuda RO/DI Unit from amazon. So far it has been great. The 100 GPD is $170 and the 50 GPD is $150.

I got the $60 aquatic life Ro/DI buddy off amazon. I also purchased a second DI resin cartridge ($18) and linked them together on the unit. Been great so far. Can fill a 20 gallon container in 8 hours. 0 TDS

Ro/di units are all pretty much the same. It is the ro membrane that can make it better then others. I like dow membranes.

So go with one that has standard 10 inch canisters, you can use teflon tape to help with seals on screw in parts, and that is about it. 2 to 4 tds testing points help greatly.

I checked amazon. I notice almost none of them mention the brand of membrane. Which means it ain't dow if I had to guess. Prob china?

No, you can't get a decent RODI unit off amazon. However, for that price you can get an excellent 4 stage RODI unit, including all the fittings from a company that BUILDS the units they sell. And they use Dow membranes and first rate carbon and fiber filters.

They have other, more advanced systems but this one works for just about everyone. And as far as I'm concerned, you shouldn't skimp on the main thing you add to your system.

I am pretty sure brs just relabels whatever they find. Canisters are canisters. A prefilter and carbon filters are dirt cheap. This is all just plastic and some metal to hold it together.

The only piece made that you truly need to worry about is a good membrane. That is probably the only part made in the usa that matters.

The brs one and the aqua fx one are pretty much identical except for stating where the membrane is made and you could prob dig to find out where.

And let's face it. 0 tds water is 0. You cant make better.

Having purchased just their regular kits, the only thing they “relabel” is the DI resin. All the other filters came in factor seals like you would find in any hardware store. As for the housing, agreed, they are just standard fittings. However, the customer service is top notch and that’s not something you’re likely to find on amazon .
