I am looking for a reef safe dechlorinator.

I am cleaning my bubble trap sponges in a 10 - 1 bleach mix and using Prime as a dechlorinator but its working out quite expensive, is there an alternative non fish brand that is reef safe?

Why not just rinse with tapwater and let air dry?

I have previously but it still smelt of bleach so I used the prime
In the unlikely event it is more than just a clean smell, I'd just rinse and dry again.

Back when I used filter socks I used to machine wash them with a cup of bleach and just let air dry and they never caused any problem.

You could potentially also use ascorbic acid as a dechlorinator and I believe some commercial bottled products have that as their primary ingredient.

Would Sodium Metabisulfite make the bleach inert?

Inert is a complicated word. It will get rid of the chlorine and is a fine way to go. Just rinse well after treatment.

Oh it's changed. Just went to their site. Wow 20 years crap changes. Apparently safe will make bleach inert. So there is your cheaper option. I mean this is why I avoid making any chemical comments, it's like having your study peer reviewed then ripped apart by Randy. Reminds me of flunking out of NDU. It's literally home hobby not sea world. Thank God.

Ok I think I am going mad now, I have used Prime and Safe and I can still smell bleach on them! Will these be ok for testing to see if these is any residual bleach in the water? Am I worrying to much about it to much, will a small amount of residual bleach affect a 100 gallon tank?

What is the bleach product you are using?
