Decided to keep my tank!

I don't really know any type of black algae its possible it is a sponge, but without a clear picture it could be anything.

If you're still looking for a toadstool I can cut a piece off mine for you.
I'm up in white Haven, but travel down to pen argyl and near reading usually every other week or so.

The toad stool is giant, see below

Definitely! How much are you asking for? I'm on a budget so if its under $50 I'd definitely be interested :)

Here's a few pictures. Not the clearest. But it's that black stuff growing on the rocks.

It's a little hard to tell.

Let's check something: Aim a strong jet of water directly at it at close range. If it dislodges easily, I am inclined to thing some type of cyano bacteria. If it doesn't, take a toothbrush and try to remove a spot and see what happens.

At this point, let's just see what happens rather than try to irradicate it.

Also, to get a better picture, take a piece of the rock out of the tank and snap a pic.

To me it looks like a sponge, but i could be wrong, could be cyano bacteria if it blows off the rock easy.

I tried the toothbrush as well as the powerhead. It didn't really do anything either way. Maybe is it a sponge? I'll take more pics when I get home later

Try to take a picture with more white light, cameras pick up white light better than blue light.

So my water parameters have stayed constant for about a month and a half and no cyanobacteria. The tbing I'm wondering tho is I have very little algea growth. No hair algea. Just the occasional algea on the glass. Is this due to more stable water parameters?

I am going to call that a win!

Just keep doing what you are doing man. Whatever the reason, the routine you are in is working! Keep it up dude. I want a full tank shot!!

@dantimdad

Hey I was wondering,
I tested my parameters today. Everything looked fine except phosphate. Its a bit over .5 and inching up towards 1. In between.
Should I do something to lower it?

This is where things start to get tailored to your aquarium.

I prefer the natural method so I would use chaeto but be careful it can bottom out phosphates pretty quickly.

You might just do a 10% water change and check before trying chaeto
