I’m currently in the process of deciding on how to upgrade my 8 year old 40B reef. I’m stuck between a planet 120 (48 x 24 x 24) and their 150 (60 x 24 x 24). Also trying to decide if I want to do an internal or external overflow. I have settled on a peninsula configuration.... pretty sure. I plan on a DIY stand, canopy, and 40B sump. I just can’t decide if that extra 12 inches and ~30 gallons is worth it?? I do have a really nice show piece leather either way . Equipment wise I’ll be looking at all new powerheads ( bye mp10s) and skimmer ( reef octo 110). But I will be able to use my gen 3 and gen 4 radions and my apex. I plan on keeping predominantly lps and softies but will venture into some Montis perhaps. Thanks for your time, I want to take my time now planning the tank as this will be my last one for a long time

You won't go wrong with either tank TBH as they are some sexy tanks.

The overflow is going to be purely up to you as in aesthetics, and also if you don't mind losing a few inches in the DT to house the internal Overflow.

Yeah I was thinking if I do the 120 external all the way however if I do the 150 leaning towards the internal with some gyres in each side like I’ve seen on tanks posted here.
Any thoughts on mega matrix versus crystalline? I’m not hardcore leaning towards low iron glass and I like the security of the trim on the mega matrix.
Thanks!

Always bigger. Always. I LOVE my internal overflow. I am using the ghost overflow type system that I just built myself. Lots of surface skimming.

That's good to hear! I think I'm going to end up settling on the larger tank to with the internal overflow. I'm now torn between having a regular tank of a peninsula tank. I'd really love to have a peninsula but they cost so much more plus I'm trying to wrap my had around placement in my basement. It's fully finished and there really isn't an ideal spot, at least one i haven't envisioned yet (and more importantly, wife approval).

I did get a quote from reef savvy and I'd love to get a tank from them but man the price tag. I know it'd be a tank I've love forever.

If you try to squeeze a tank in a place where it does fit well...it will always look funky :( Peninsula tanks are great but they do require a proper layout to look cool.

My inwall has a clear back and i love the way it looks...until you see the frag tanks, lights, etc etc etc.

Reevy savvy are nice tanks but just IMO, not worth the money. Its not like they are scratch proof...

Well said. I have a good spot for a 60 inch long tank in my basement office to go along the wall. I wish I could make a peninsula work but on the flip side that would give me a reason to go with a CADE aquarium. I’ve been obsessing over them since reef builders did their build video.
I guess I can always reserve reef savvy for my dream, win the lotto build
