If you're having nuisance algae problems, I would focus on increasing nutrient export since it doesn't sound like you can feasibly reduce nutrient import (I don't rinse frozen foods; I think Randy did an analysis of phosphate in frozen foods and most were present in the food itself and therefore not removed by rinsing), and a better clean up crew doesn't solve the underlying tendency of your system to grow nuisance algae.
2 great articles by Randy:
Introduction Nitrate is an ion that has long dogged aquarists. It is typically formed in aquaria through the digestion of foods, and in many aquaria it builds up and can be difficult to keep at natural levels. In the past, many aquarists...

The phosphorus atom is one of living matter’s basic building blocks. It is present in every living creature and in the water of every reef aquarium. Unfortunately, it is often present in excess in reef aquaria and that excess has the potential to...

As a fan of macroalgae nutrient export (chaeto/refugium), I generally recommend that (or reactors/small scrubbers if space is limited). Alternatively, you could carbon dose +/- GFO, but I don't have experience with carbon dosing or GFO.
Good luck!
