deciding to seed my tank with copepods

so I have been doing some research on seeding my tank with copepods. i have a basic red sea 350 setup. and have a kessil H80 as a fuge light. now i know that when seeding you have to turn off all circulation and take your filter socks out and filter pad out and turn off the skimmer. now this may be a dumb question but once i have gone through the full introduction of the pods and put the socks back and filter pad and, floss back in my cup will the pods still thrive and be able to make the trip to the DT or will they just be trapped in my sump/fuge. so everone knows the flow of my sum is as follows.
1.down pipe into sump
2. filter sock and media cup with filter floss.
3. fuge
4.skimmer area with filter pad
5. return pump area

Honestly, I just waited till lights out and dumped em in the display. A week later I didn't have to blow detritus out of my rocks any more
