Hey all! I'm getting closer and closer to upgrading my tank to a larger set up. I've kind of gone between (as the title says) 70, 90 or 120. So here are my questions:

Are there really too many differences in the fish you can keep in a 120 as opposed to the smaller two options?
If the fish don't vary too much in what I could have, what would be the main benefit of a 120? (Easier to maintain levels?)

What other thoughts/input could you give me to help make the best informed decision?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Been going through the same myself. Upgrading my 45 to a 75 or 100. Biggest difference between the 2 was 100 is another 12” longer.

I personally don’t think 5-10 gallons is going to make or break a tang on anything over 100.

I ended up ordering the 100 so I had more floor and swimming space.

End of the day, it’s up to you on what you want it to look like and how much room you have.

When everyone says “you should have went bigger” they know.

If this helps,
A 120 would of really opened up the kind of fish I can properly house.
I have a 75 and its a shame that I have to pass up on beautiful fish sometimes because of the swimming space available.
Tangs, more than 1 pair of clowns etc.
Larger fish in general that require the space.

Yeah, I've kicked around 2 sets of clown fish

The 120 is a better choice. Don’t think two clown pairs would work but it does up the the tang world. Plus it is much easier to aquascape. The extra room front to back is great.

I have a 90g for sale with stand and canopy if you live near Maryland.

When I upgraded from a 75 I went with the 120. I am very happy with it. Wish I had gone with a 180, but oh well.

I have the potential for an incredible deal on a 90, just not sure on it though...I mean 30 gallons is 30 gallons

It really isn't just 30 gallons. It is the additional space that 30 gallons provides for aquascapping, fish, equipment and so on. I thought that 120 would be more then enough but the 180 would have given me another 2 square foot of space.
