I like things which are really unique. My friend actually has a squiward house with a lot of red coralline all over it. I was hoping to get some ideas for other sorts of decorations other than rock, which can still be a functional surface area for a bacteria population. Some ideas I have already:

Stained glass
Glass bottles
Quartz or other gem like rocks

which can still be a functional surface area for a bacteria population
In order to be good for bacterial population it must be very porous. If it is something smooth like glass or quartz it will not be good for that application. You can still use it for decoration, it just isn't ideal for bacteria.

Before I decided to start up a reef tank I was very tempted to make a FW tank decorated with Star Wars lego kits. Maybe some day....

I have seen reefers use skulls as decorating with in rock work which looks very cool.
