I am new to the hobby. My tank has been up for almost 4 days. I plan to have a livestock only tank for now. I'd like to add the coral later. My question is for opinions and experiences with artificial decoration. Most are plastic or have plastic components. Does this cause any issues or create more work? What materials can be used that do not cause problems or is that impossible...lol All I have now is sand, of course and about 9 lbs of "live rock".

Other than them looking fake and out of place, they will get algae growing on them. You will want to take them out at that time because they will look even worse all covered in algae, and can make it harder to keep proper parameters.

There is nothing wrong with fish only with LR tanks. You dont need fake decor.
