I’ve been managing high phosphates. At one point they were 0.25. Got a GFO reactor and brought them down to 0.058 (best number) over the course of a few days. New acro frags looked pretty good.

I was reading how lowering phosphate too quick can cause major problems. Got paranoid. Shut off my reactor. Tonight phosphate is 0.180. One out of the 5 acro frags looks ‘ehhh’

I changed out the GFO and now am running reactor again.

how much time should I take to lower phos from 0.180 back down to 0.03-0.05?

from now on, can I just run the reactor 24-7?? Maybe by using less GFO?

If you read my post, I am fighting phosphate as well but you’re no where near where I was so relax! I am no expert by any mean, but I had slowly dose phosphate RX at 50% strength for the past month and half, it went down from .90 to last week at about .35. I am also running chemipure 100% and GFO 50%.

I am taking it easy and especially I got quit a few new corals. I know I should have add new corals, but

with your number, I would do large water changes and 75% GFO

Oh wow. That’s high lol.

problem is once it goes above 0.1, I notice that any acro frags I have start to take a turn for the worse...they seemed most happy when I had it lower, around 0.06. So I need to keep it consistent at 0.03 (ish)

I run rhowaphos 24/7 in both my tanks without issue.

just adjust the amount you use to keep the levels locked down at 0.03 or less and change it when it’s spent.

You need some phosphate for cells, but it’s minimal.
