Hey everyone! I'm brand new into this hobby. I live in Katy, TX and have feel in love with the idea of owning a reef. Soon finding out that I'm already in the plan of saving for a 65 gallon rimless reef ready tank, I proudly bought a 10 gallon aquarium. Still excited and over eager to start, I have been lucky enough to find this forum and app searching the Internet for every bit of information I could. Finding this family of reefers has been a huge blessing and opportunity to learn and take in everything. From others mishaps to the great advice and support. Not to mention great guidance. I would love to meet more people from Texas especially in the Houston/ Greater Houston areas. So far I only know one other person here in Houston who owns a biocube as well as a 75 gallon reef. Let me know what ideas are out there for 10 gallon set ups. I'd like to have some zoas but not really sure tank requirements for any corals. Still learning about all these fish. Haha, lots to take in. Hope everyone has an awesome weekend and weeks to comes. Happy reef keeping!

Welcome to the friendliest forum reef 2reef
I can not top this one. welcome.:) Looks like the TX member are waking up;)

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! Means a lot. Totally in the stage of research research research. Oh and some more of that. Haha. I honestly thought I would get bored with the hobby after a few days but it's made me actually want to study biology and marine biology. Who would've thought?

Welcome! One of my first setups was a 10 gallon with zoas, ricordeas, mushrooms, and a few other softies. You can have a lot of fun with a smaller tank and they can do surprisingly well if you keep up on regular small water changes. Good luck!

Thanks a bunch! I've fallen in love with zoas. Especially on here. They look great to me under blue lights. I'm thinking of having a zoa garden in a little larger 20-30 gallon tank. Whats the best type of lighting for them?

Typically they do well in lower to moderate light, but there are a few that like higher light. If you are serious about zoas, @joshporksandwich can tell you anything you wanna know about them

Deep in the hard of KATY............... GO TIGERS!! ( I had to say that)
If you need a little bump to a successful reef swing by one day, all advice is free.
Ppl say I have a cool tank but I hate how the water taste like, everything else is as usual, little fishes and some of these things that they call corals.

Haha thanks a lot. I am a Cinco Ranch kid myself but I graduated with lots of friends from Katy High. I'd love to stop by and get as much advice as I can get.

I'll definitely have to ask him for some advice. I'm really into tentacle corals and Zoas. I love clowns and hope to own a couple that I hope won't be difficult to have host.
