Is it ok to use Deep Red light (100%) at night for like an hour to watch fish ? do they actually see the light and will it trigger bad algae

growth ?

I wouldn't run 100%, that's for sure. Red light is great for algae and of limited benefit to coral. I have the Kessil H380 refugium light (mostly a red light) and it makes my algae grow fast. Cyano seems to like red light better than blue from what I have observed in my refugium. Of course, science may prove me wrong on that observation.

If you keep it really short and lower the intensity it shouldn't be a problem. Just remember, EVERY retail algae scrubber sold uses red LED lighting.
