I was looking at Lasse's build thread and saw an interesting feature: he has an area in his coast-to-coast overflow that will function something like a DSB with a plenum. That got me wondering...

Would it be possible to use the typical internal corner overflow as a DSB? I have an 18" tall tank and mine would allow for about 8 or 9 inch sand depth below where the water exits. Would that work? Would the flow be too high for it to be effective?

Thanks!
Larry

I have thinking of filling my overflow with some kind of biomedia but ruled out the ceremic based marine pure after i saw an old discussion about leaching aluminum. Sand is an interesting idea, altough a pita if you ever need to pull the stand pipes.

I have a DSB in my fuge but not so much in my tank itself.

Following along as i have nitrate issues.
