I bought my plumbing today boys! Well most of it. I need 2 or 3 more 3/4" gates but anywho.

I want to have a deep sand bed tank inside my sump refugium compartment. This is dumb? Stupid idea? Lol. Ty

I have a rimless tank that will just overflow back into my sump... like up over the rim... just like the zero edge tanks.

I will T off my return manifold and do a algae turf scrubber. Usually the other end of that i just shoot back into the sump or fuge area for flow. The downpipe from the turf scrubber.

Im using a diffent sump than my past and its bigger... however it dosent have deep lips for a deep sand bed. It would be a shallow or corner sand bed...

When i T off my return manifold. I will add the gate and turf scrubber. The end of the downpipe off my scrubber would go into the deep sand bed tank.
??? Thoughts. Make sense?

sure it will work great its not a bad idea at all. if you ever change your mind, you can just unplug it. better than having sand in the display.

Back when DSB's were popular, lots of people use to build remote DSB's. Which is basically what you want to do. Just make sure the flow through it isn't so insane that it kicks up all the sand.

Having a DSB in the DT IMO is a very bad idea. Putting it on the sump is a great idea. :)

Awsome! Ty guys for the support. This makes me feel better. Lol.

Back to mclendons on the way to work tonight. Need 1 more 3/4" T for my returns.
Gonna order my 3 gates tonight. I designed the plumbing where i can install them later on the manifold. Need 1 for flow adjustement on the return.

After looking at the rimless tank i was gonna use. It has a felt bottom for the display. Im just gonna cut down a trusty old 5g bucket for this DSB. Thanks again

My old sump design. The return was in the middle and the one end i just used as a fuge and algae turf scrubber that T'd off the main return. Where i discovered the hang off turf scrubber. Lol.
Ill post pics when shes decent.

when it comes time to remove it, just wham, remove it. no fanfare. if you buy bottled bac in order to remove that remote dsb then elitist cycling nerds will laugh but if you captn morgan pose undo the sump then we nod in unison as the cool kids.

it doesn't become a required incorporated mass of bacteria. it becomes a huge sink of oxygen-taking microbes orders over, but we produce so much copious o2 in reefing with these packed photosynthetics, adding five of those packed sumps wouldn't use it all up.

its removable, at any time. just like a display tank sandbed.

why do want a DSB? to house anaerobic bacteria? to house pods?
Sulphur reactor is an option for nitrate reduction. refugium for both nitrates and phosphates plus pod housing.

The two shop lights that will light the turf scrubber will run opposite my display. I will have an area for rock and sponge and pods and i keep the ceramic rings in mesh or media bags too. The bucket with the dsb is just to polish the water. Lol. Think of it as a fine sediment filter.

I dont wanna look at the price of a sulphur reactor. Lol!

5g bucket i have. Filtration off the manifold. Yes! Cut a slot in some pvc and hang the turf scrubber mesh with zip ties. done! Lol. Just easier. I will start a bio pellet reactor after cycle. The Aquamaxx xl.

I have a lifereef calcium reactor and c02 bottle sitting for 2 yrs id like to use 1 day.

The alktronics and sulphur reactors are new to me. I shut down my last reef when sanjay was coming out with algae reactors and wire lights inside. Lol.
Not that that dosent work. Lol.... Just an idea of my last reefing. The red fuge lights are new too.

Bout water testin time! U can see the hang off turf scrubber. It will waterfall down eventually 1 day. Still need to add some 3/4" gates and my skimmer cracked via mail so that sux. Lol.
Happy friday everybody.
