so my tank is currently up and running and im going to upgrading to radions towards the end of this month to take my coral growing more seriously, but because my tank has a canopy and a stand i cant see my sandbed (thickness of it), would it be ill advised to remove my fish and throw a bag of livesand into the tank and then put the fish back in? would this really screw up my parameters and possibly kill my current corals?

How much are you going to add? I've added substrate to my system on many occasions, about 17 years on my last system, and never removed anything. I don't think you'd need the live sand in an established tank. I would however build it up slowly, one section at a time. I would use the plain dry substrate(oolite in my case for a DSB), and rinse it using water while doing a WC, then add it to the system. Methods to do this could be with a piece of PVC pipe, and a funnel, using a gallon size zip lock freezer bag, or food storage container, etc. In either case you're going to get some clouding, but it will settle in time.

I'd like to use the same sand already in there would it be bad to use live sand?
