I am planning a 200 gallon build and plan to try a dsb in fuge. What size should it be for my tank size? I am planning a large skimmer reef octopus regal 300 to be exact and am going to plumb an ats but only plan to use it if the dsb doesn't work. I tried the fuge but I am not really liking it so far. Also tried biopellets and really didn't like that adventure either. I plan just a shallow bed in the display, the tank will have a heavy bioload and be sps dominant. The sump will be at least 100 gallon looking at a 72" 18" 17" and it will have a skimmer section on one end return in middle and the other end will be dsb or a fuge if I decide that route but right now I am really leaning towards the dsb. The ats will most likely be in center section.

I would say the size should be whatever has the least chance of being disturbed. Which would mean, whatever size the compartment is that won't have things moving around in it.

Agreed with at least 4" of sand. You could also look into a remote deep sand bed as an option.

This will be somewhat remote to where I can remove flow from it and not disturb the main tank. I am thinking at least 6" deep just wondering how much area it should take up like 24" 18" 6 or so inches deep. Would that be large enough to be beneficial? Like I said I am planning to plumb an algae scrubber to just not use it unless I need it. I think the skimmer I am planning will have plenty power for the tank and I can control the flow so I can skim less if needed.
