Defrosted frozen mysis & brineshrimp

Hi, I was wondering how long I could keep mysis & brineshrimp in the fridge once it has been defrosted?

I need a friend to feed my marine fish for 3 days & was hoping it would be ok to defrost the food I feed the fish & let her use that, instead of her having to defrost & drain it twice a day.

defrost and drain? why not just show her how to use some tank water in a cup. if your really worried, don't feed the fish at all. three days without food is no problem for fish.

How anyone could think a fish going without food for 3 days is no problem for the fish, is beyond my comprehension [emoji53]

ever have a new fish that won't eat for a week? their not humans. read up on it and you'll find that it will not harm a fish. I'm not saying it's ok to feed your fish once every three days or so. for a three day vacation the fish will be ok. I would rather do that then take a chance on someone feeding the tank that doesn't know what their doing.

Divide the frozen foods into serving size pieces and leave frozen. Have her drop the frozen food directly into the tank and the fish can feed as it defrosts in the tank.

3 days without food isn't an issue, just feed them as normal and right before you walk out the door for vacation. Water will clear up some, especially if you leave lights off. I left mine from Friday-Sunday without food. No issues.

I'm going to cut the frozen mysis into chunks and just show her how to put one of those and a cube of brineshrimp in the sump while we're away.

I usually defrost it in some tank water and then drain off the water in the hope that it will reduce any excess nitrate or phosphate being added, although I know that is a not proven to happen.
