Dehumidifier
This may be a stupid question but I recently purchased a dehumidifier can I pump that water directly back into my tank for top off water in my 265 Reef

Interesting...you would think so, wouldn't you? The only concerns I can see are leaching from the condenser coils (aluminum or copper) and the storage container which likely isn't food grade. The dust and any contaminants in air I would think would be minimal.

I don't think I'd have an issue putting into my freshwater tank but that's a much more forgiving environment water quality wise.

I have thought about this myself in that past. The more I thought about it, the more I was thinking about how I could be introducing unwanted impurities into the system. If money was not an issue I would have sent off a sample of that water to get an ICP test done just out of curiosity.

I just top off with RODI just to be safe.

Just thought about this as well. If there were a TDS meter on hand, then test that water. If it is anything else other that 0, then there is something in it and I would not risk it.

I figured other had thought of this. Glad I searched and read here. I didn’t think about the metals.
I guess also a dehumidifier is always breaking down and leaching as time goes on.
good thread.
