I had an order that was supposed to be delivered this morning by 10:30am. It unfortunately seemed to somehow never make it on the plane last night and didn’t leave California until apparently 5 am. When I saw that I knew it wasn’t going to go well... fast forward to now; 8 hours later and it’s been sitting in Indianapolis since noon. I don’t see it getting delivered by tonight at this point.. it was packed with a decent heat pack, just not sure what the likelihood of reviving a dead box or having life. Would I even acclimate the same?

What are you waiting on? Coral, invert, fish?

Coral! Sorry... Completely forgot.
If it was packaged well, hopefully it'll still be alive when you get it. Acclimation should still be the same procedure. Corals can go a couple days without light, its the temperature that is of main concern. Where did you order it from and where are you located? Is it cold out?

Cali to Boston. Its cold out now, just hoping its sitting somewhere somewhat warm in Indianapolis. I'd be able to get it inside as soon as it is dropped off. Just cant really control how everyone else is treating it..

Im a little north in Wisconsin and it hasn't been that bad temp wise around here, low to mid 50's. And agreed with the other people handling it, fedex and ups aren't exactly gentle with packages regardless of what it says on the box. But like I said hopefully its packaged well and secure and you get a healthy and happy coral tomorrow :)

Actually about 15 coming in , if they ever get here!

I had an order from Aqua SD Tuesday last week going to NY to arrive Wednesday morning and was delayed in KY. Next day was Thanksgiving. Package didn't come until Friday late afternoon. Only corals that made it were zoas.. UPS is not very dependable and I guess if not for the holiday, I may have gotten it Thursday. Aqua SD is great and replace all of the DOAs but UPS dropped the ball on that one. Was in KY for 14+ hours. So, none of the Acros made it but I did not get it for 3 days so you may be okay. Aqua SD do a great job packaging the corals.

Im sorry for your losses, I will be up checking tracking till it gets delivered... I am not really sure how the packs can just sit for hours. This is Fedex, not UPS. Still hoping for the best... Going to be upset to pull some dead corals out.

Geez! This happened to me today too. Something delayed their flight and they missed my 1030am delivery. I called UPS and tracked down the truck. Unfortunately, both wrasses arrived dead when I finally tracked it down at 4pm and opened the box.

It should be fine.
Take a picture of the box. Take a picture of the just opened box. Take a picture of the first bag you pull out. Take a picture of each bag as you pull it out take a pic of all of them together.
Fed ex and ups both offer a min insurance in case of loss. The shipper will handle that if need be.

Float the bags. Clip one to the edge of the tanks and open it (assuming it's not cloudy) or do one to the side , and put in an instant read thermometer. Make the note.

Note the smell of the bag as you open them.
If the smell is strong , speed up the the dump and replace water acclimation.

Losses happen, you'll be covered by fed ex and the shipper.

It's Xmas and Black Friday sales.

:/ :/ Im sorry! This is what I'm hoping does not happen.. After this I will be even more hesitant of shipping fish.. Good thing my eel made it fine overnight no problems and was even 30 mins early!
