shot in the dark, but has anyone converted an AC pump Deltec Skimmer to DC pump using a Jecod or similar style pump? Reason being, the Deltec DCS 1200 pump is all or nothing. If you break the needle wheel or impeller shaft, you have to shell out $250 for a whole new impeller assembly, they can't be repaired. I'd like something a bit more modular because we all know those tiny snails will eventually find their way in and break things.

I know the needle wheel will need to be changed on a Jecod model and matching the air draw to the Deltec pump will be the hard part....just thought I'd ask to see if anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't had to try to match a DC pump but you would need to try your best to match the gph and lph rating with any new pump you try. You may want to look at some of the cheaper simplicity DC pumps as they have a nice range of affordable pumps. Aquacave carries them and they also have a few other brands like varios etc..

if you can get close to the gph and lph, then the last step would be to rig the connection since the DC's usually have a plastic nut connection.

I think I'm just going to keep the AC pump and get a spare impeller for my backup pump. This thing is a beast and I want it to work for many many years to come.
