Ok so I might buy a used deltec mce600 hob skimmer From a local guy he's asking $150 is that I good price ?and has anybody used this skimmer ? Thanks and mods please move this if this is the wrong place to post this

They sell new for $560, it says that they are the best hob out there. Go in sump or external imo, I went hob and regretted it as soon as I got a reef ready tank.

It's a great skimmer. I've owned 2 of them over the years, and on the 20" cube I'm setting up, I'll be using a Deltec MC500 (the internal version). I'll be using it, because for that size tank, I don't think there is a better skimmer. I know how easy it is to fine tune, and what it's capable of. I've never seen a hang-on skimmer pull out nastier, stinkier skimmate (I have no experience with the new Octopus hang-ons with bubble blaster pumps or the ATB Hang-on cone, so I can't say whether it is better than those or not, but it's, hands-down, better than every other hang on skimmer on the market). As for price, $150 is a pretty good price depending on how old it is, but I used one for about 5 years and it worked just as good the day I sold as it did the day I bought it, and I bought it used. How big is the tank you plan on using it on?

90g I don't have a lot of room in my sump for my refugium so I was gonna try to save some space .if it won't be good in that tank ill just use it on my 15g hex my wife want horses in. So I have 2 skimmers a D.A.S.bx2 and the mce600 what would be better to use for my 90g

I have owned mce600 and used it on a 40 breeder... Excellent skimmer. One of the best hob filters out there. Aqua bee pump. Deltec is high quality. Might be a little small for a 90 gallon..

Das makes good skimmers too.. Basically they are a generic Deltec and I believe they license the technology from deltec.

And I actually bought Daves after a number of years and used it on a 80 or so gallon prop system for a few more years. For a skimmer that size it really pulled out some impressively dark gunk.

My only complaint would be that I had to clean the cup almost every day.

150 is an excellent price. Wow in fact. You couldn't go wrong but I do agree with dave that it may be undersized on a 90.

Whats up Adam? I totally forgot you bought that from me.... I could not remember what happened to it.

Yep. When chad and I walked out of your house that day we had buckets of stuff. Live rock, test kits. all sorts of great things. You just kept giving us stuff. It was like christmas. I think thats when you gave me that 60 gallon oceanic too!

Geeze what a guy.

Now if I could remember who I sold that deltec to..................

Well the mce600 is up and skimming wow those aqua bee pumps make so bubbles . So I think ill use the mce600 until I have the cash to buy 2 more aqua bee pumps for the bx2 .thanks for the help
