Deltec SC1455 DC Pump Skimmer

Anyone have one of these, or similar model? Interested in some feedback. I will have a 125 gallon tank, with a possible total water volume of 150-160 gallons total. Rated for 264, which I am seriously skeptical about. Also interested in ease of maintenance and any issues encountered with the performance of the skimmer. Thanks.

Don't be skeptical. They're incredible skimmers.
Oh, I am aware of their reputation in the industry. Not so long ago, they were probably the gold standard for protein skimmers. I am just curious about these particular DC skimmers. I was just hoping to run across someone that had one for some input.
 
Looks like just another jebao dc powered skimmer. I'm sure it works just as well as the others.
 
I have the sc1351 and love it. I've only been running it for about 3 months now, but I think ir's truly amazing. However, as Luke33 stated it is a Jebao DC pump that deltec modified. Because the skimmer was rated for a larger tank than mine I felt going the DC route was best for my case, otherwise I would have gone with an AC. In either case I personally don't think you can go wrong with a deltec and you can't go wrong with any purchase from Adam either ;). I would recommend reaching out to
him with your questions as well if you haven't already.
 
I have the 1456, which is the DC model on my Red Sea Reefer 525xL - ~ 130 gallon total. It runs smooth and quiet, with no issues what so ever. I like the ease at which it can be disassembled and cleaned, and how its not really sensitive to water level. Started pulling mud out on day 3 and hasnt missed a beat since. Adam at BattleCorals helms the support for mine, and he's been excellent to work with. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.

I have 1455 and for me it is noisy. It does the job and it has been reliable, but it is noisy. I have used it for two years but have started to consider reblacing it.
 
I have the 1456, personally i feel they pull a small amount of air (600L/H) compared to other skimmers in the same pricerange (~1500L/H). I will in a near future swap my 1456 for a nyos 160.

This is one thing I noticed that concerned me. I had an RLSS skimmer (pump died and the pump is no longer available) that I am replacing. By comparison, it drew 1500 lph of air. The Nyos 160 is one of the options I was looking at also.

Id go with the Nyos if i were you, as stated, i will aswell. Had the deltec for about a year and im not disappointed at all, its just that i expect it to be in line with similar specified skimmers :)
 
I have an 11 year old LifeReef skimmer (which still looks like the new ones) and I threw that in the sump when my other skimmer died. I must say, it is not doing a bad job. Might also keep an eye on it to move back into the starting lineup. :-)
