Thanks a lot for the post

The only difference between the two is the pump.


The SCA is an AC skimmer and the SC is a DC powered


Performance is essentially the same. I've found it really comes down to a matter of preference.


Either model would be a great fit on the Red Sea.

Shoot actually that's my bad. The footprint info for the SCA On the site I'll have to update. That was the older sc1350 with a little smaller base. I totally overlooked that when i added the SCA to the site. Both the SCA and SC 1351 have the same size base and foot print now. Sorry for any confusion on that on but I'm glad you mentioned it.

Ok I am really sorry about that. There was a skimmer that came out before the SCA1351 called the sc1350. When Deltec discontinued the 1350 about a year ago, I added the new SCA to the site in the place of the 1350. I just swapped photos essentially and i did not change the text including the old footprint of the SC1350, if you're following me.

The new SCA1351 and the SC1351 have the same base, and also the same footprint of (LxWxH) / 9.8 x 5.5 x 20". The only difference between the two is the pump. Does that help clarify it a little?

What Deltec would suit my purpose? I have a 93 G cube with a Trigger systems cube sump that has a max capacity of 24.3 gallons... This will be rather heavily stocked fish/sps tank

Not at all man. Thanks a lot for the post The 1351 would be sufficient for sure, or you could up size to the 1455 or 1456. A little oversized but you could dial the DC version back a little if it seemed like it was a little too much. either would be a great choice

So what are the ups and downside of an AC pump vs a DC pump. I think maybe one can dial back the output?

I personally prefer the AC line one over DC. The pump has proven to be a bit more reliable. Less parts and less "stuff". There may be rare occasion that one might want to dial it down a little but I don't think its essential in any way. With the ac, you just plug it ion, and let it do it's thing.

Ditto ... in fact, my biggest problems have had to do with _too_much_ foam & skimmate - my 1455 keeps blowing its lid off!
