Deltec Skimmer SC1350 creating soap like foam

Hi everyone

Facebook admin recommended sharing this here so I have a strange issue last night I came home to find my skimmer and skimmer area of the sump covered in soap like foam. There was no odor to the foam much like plain soap bubbles.

I've attached pictures and I'm in week 5 of a zeovit system, nothing has changed in the tank.

All coral looks fine polyp extension is still good and the fish seem fine. All parameters are with in normal range and the skimmer is now ticking along as usual.

Could be a couple of things
1 - do you wash your filter socks with soap
2 - epoxy 2part for setting rock work
3 - red slime remover
These are my top 3 thing that makes my skimmer do the same thing.

1) Brand new filter sock rinsed in RO.
2) no 2 part epoxy.
3) no red slime remover.

You can wash your filters just with bleach and plenty of water to rinse

What exactly are you dosing in the tank?? Mine did that while dosing large amounts of Vodka

Hi

I'm dosing:

3 drops zeobac 3 times per week
3 drops sponge powder every other day
.25mm zeostart twice daily.

I have had soap like foam before after working in my tank. The bubbles in the skimmer would have a glaze to them.

I usually wash my hands quite a bit and I think that is the cause.
