So I'm thinking about taking on a coral that is considered impossible to keep. I know dedicated NPS guys that shiver at the thought of them. But before I do that I want to see if anybody here has experience with them.
My plan if I do this is a 20 gallon tank, 20 gallon sump, a skimmer rated for 125 gallons, a cheap blueish light just for viewing and probably 70 lbs of rock. Either 1 or no fish. Have 5 cultures of phyto 1 gallon each constantly going and put them in as I need. Not sure if these guys will consume things like reef roids but if so I'll try and make my own mix for cheap and feed 4 times a day

Ok so when they say impossible they mean impossible. They can be kept but money is the way. Auto feeding throughout the day is a have to. Think of a over kill skimmer that is used for a 120 gallon. Now think of a over kill skimmer for that 120 gallon. A skimmer that is used for 200 gallons is perfect. Big sump with a Refugium 2-3x bigger than the display. Any low light is ok with high high high high high flow. Good idea for the phyto. Fish is good since dendronepthya like fish waste and good bacteria.
