I was wondering if dendro's only open up when they are hungry? I bought one like a week ago and it was open. I fed it some mysis once and was giving it some coral food every night with my sps's. Now it has been closed for almost a day and I'm wondering if this is normal.

I was told a couple times a week but that works, but I'm still wondering if dendro's are like sun corals in the fact that they open when they're hungry and are closed when they aren't.

I have some that I have "trained" over the past year and they stay out. They are shaded, which I think helps.

how do u train em? I figured they would come out when they sensed food or were hungry.

Before my tank crashed a few years ago I had some that stayed out right under a 250 watt halide. I fed them Mysis everyday with the lights on. The key is to get there attention with the juice first then wait about thirty minutes then feed or at least it worked for me.

mine is in the mid-level of the tank - its open all the time. i feed it every other day. he doesnt like a lot of flow though, other than that its a very easy coral to keep alive. a lot easier than sun coral.

Mine seemed to be only open at night, but then again I only fed at night. I am amazed with how much food they can consume...a bottomless pit.

I took reefkeeper10's advice and enitced it to open with the shrimp juice...fed it when it opened and now it's open all the time...I appreciate the help bro.
