Does anyone keep dendrophyllias and zoas/palys in the same area? I'm wondering if the dendro would sting zoas, because I think it would look nice to have zoas completely surrounding a colony of dendro.

i know this is off topic but what do you feed your dendro's i want to get some but i dont know what to feed them? i would love to surround some with zoa's i hope we can do this

I have mine in a frag rack about two inches from the water's surface so feeding is simple. I give the mature head 3 mysis a day and the babies which are about halfway mature 2 mysis daily. They readily eat and are major pigs. I think he would eat 10 mysis per head a day if I'd give it to him.

I would worry more about the zoas growing over and irratating the Dendro more than vice versa. I have both but I have my Dendros back in a large almost cave where there is very little light, to little for zoas. Dark spots need coral too. :)
I feed my dendros mysis every other day. Between the 4 main heads and 6-8 smaller ones they eat 4 cubes of the bio-pure mysis every time.

mine is right next to some zoas, it even leans on them occasionally. no harm either way.
I'd move 'em. Over time there will be ill-effects.

No coral likes to touch unless it's the same species... the more room we give them the more (and faster) they'll grow.

However, I do like the look of a mixed reef. Reefs in the ocean are a collage of coral species all working to find their niche. It's interesting to find what corals do well together and can coexist in the same space, it makes aquariums look more natural.

I just saw my dendro tentacle touch a paly and it did close up. Just an observation.
