Dendros placement in tank

What kind of dendro's? THe soft coral or the lps sun coral type?

Mine get pretty high flow and are about 24 inches below 250w mhs. Dendros are different from sun corals.

Mine are near the top med flow. They have started to come out everyday now. The key is feeding them.

What do you do with feeding them? I've had mine for a few weeks now and it occasionally comes out at night when I feed my tank but all I see it do during the day is puff up as if to come out but in the end only the mouth opens.

I've had dendros for like 4 years and the key is getting them on a feeding schedule......once that schedule is established, they will fully open everyday during that time for many hours (mine come out after work and stay out till I go to bed).

cheers,
Darren

I started feeding them mysis, which gives them the best growth and feeding response, at least for me. Now, they'll eat pretty much anything.....my favorite is feeding them forumula one flake food as it is the easiest thing to feed LPS (almost all of my LPS eats formula one, it just takes some time to get them to eat it).

cheers,
Darren

Hmmm, I feed mysis as well but I guess I don't have the schedule down yet for it to open:sure:

Mine are open 24/7 most days. Is this normal?

I don't know if its "normal" but it sure is sweet!

Mine will let me know if the flow is right by opening right away. If I put them in a bad spot they won't open.

my dendro's are pigs......

feeding is definitely the key...i feed krill or silversides 2-3x wk, plus i overfeed so he gets lots of goodies everyday. he opens from around 5pm (lights on at 345) and closes ??? (lights off at 1145 and still open most nights)

you know, I got a single head of dendrophylia from reef2go about 4 months ago. I put him almost at the bottom on a piece of live rock. I never saw any tentilcles or mouths, or any kind of tissue, just the head. the color is still bright orange. Is it dead? I've also heard if it dies to leave it alone and babies will grow. so I just left it thinking it will either live and come out or babies will start in a month or so. so far nothing, just like the day I got it. any ideas??? should I move him to a darker place? it is in the light but way down low. moderarte to low flow.
