Deni vacuum sealer

I have a vaccum sealer that has a narrow melting line, was curious if that could be replaced with a heat strip that would provide a wider melt on plastic that would be safer for bagging frags for shipments?

Could you melt it twice and that way if water gets through the first line it shouldn't get through the second.
