I'm curious to hear some feedback on the various denitrifying media being marketed now. Products like Seachem's De*nitrate & Matrix, Siporax, Marine Pure, etc.... claim to have porosity suitable for anaerobic bacterial action to remove nitrate. (I noted that Marine Pure only claims this for their thick block and says their spheres, small cubes, and thin blocks really are more for aerobic bacteria.)

Does anyone have any experience or data that supports (or doesn't support) effective nitrate removal with these products? I know some will want to suggest other methods such as deep sand beds, but I'm really more interested in efficacy of these medias.

Thanks for your input!!
