Derasa clam - mantle retracted and gaping?

Had this guy for about 3 weeks now and it has started to retract about 2 days ago was fine before. Looks like its slightly gaping also. About 4 inches in size. Likely dying.

There is no reaction when i tough it or cast a shadow. Water parameters are all zero with a ph of 8.0

Kind of figured. This is really my buddies clam and i figured his light intensity was too low (5%) for a clam. Noted to him it should have been higher
 
Low light for a few weeks didn't kill that clam. I'd check it for parasites. Look on the underside for pyramid snails.

Also, how old is the tank this was in? Looks like diatoms on the sandbed which would indicate a young tank.

The tank has been running for about a year now. Ill ask him to check for pyramid snails
