What's up everyone. I went into Petco to look for some Guppies to breed. Long story short my Guppy gave birth to a bunch of fry in my reef tank and I want to breed more but that's another post. I happen to walk past this clam. They had it for $100 as you can see in the picture. It's about 4 inches. I didn't get it as much as I wanted it because I'm not sure how this clam will do in a bare bottom reef tank. I always see claims on sand and maaaaybe on the rock work. Is it possible to keep a clam in a bare bottom reef? I checked to see if it's ok by flashing my hand over the Iight to see if it'll close and it did so instantly. This price looked amazing for the size but wanted to research first but can't find anything

There is no real way to completely answer this - but - I would ask them to keep the clam for you - for 3-4 weeks. Pay - but - if it does not survive - a refund. Of course - its possible they could switch clams on you - but - try to figure out a way that that doesn't happen?

I totally understand. The price for a clam that size and because people in Petco don't really take good care of the aquatic department there can mean they want to get rid of it because something could be wrong?

I can ask them. I know one of the employees. I can ask them if he can do it because I know Petco in general don't hold aquatic animals after purchase. They even have a sign that says no guarantee on saltwater livestock
