I think I'm going to get a Derasa clam, but most of the "online info" says the nutrients should be near zero (?)....can anyone tell me what they are keeping their derasa clams at nitrate and phos wise? Thanks.

Not true at having it near zero. I have had my clam for over a year and my nutrients are far from zero. My clam has been growing amazing and is always fully open.

OK great, yeah this is what I'm wondering. I like to run about 15-20 nitrates and my phos around .1, and in my mind it would make sense this would be "FINE" for a clam due to the need to filter feed.

Most of their energy is from lighting as well as phyto feedings.
they will accept no3 up to 15 and po4 up to .08

Your numbers are similar to mine. I’ve had 2 derasa clams and both lived about 10 years. Make sure you have 100 PAR or greater on the sand and I think you are good to go.

My po4 is .06-.08 and No3 is 8 -10. No problem w derasa. New baby
