Hi I plan to upgrade my light over my derasa.
Currently I run a kessil A360N-E Tuna Blue LED just a few inches off the water and the clam is about 14 inches underwater. Running 100%

New light is a Neptune Systems SKY LED . I have another one I run at 35% but hope to increase soon.

I don't have a par meter. I think the derasa would like more light.
Any idea what a good starting percentage would be. I plan to run the sky just a few inches off the water as I just want to light the clam for now and not the rocks around it.

Did BRS test this light on one of their 24x24x24 cubes like they did for the Kessils? Might give you a starting point

My Derasa is not overly demanding of light and has worked well on the sand in around 120-150par, same with Sqamosa and Noae. These are in contrast to Maxima and Crocea who are light lovers and do well in 250par vaulted up on rockwork in the top 3rd of the tank.

A clam’s lighting requirements are completely dependent on that individual, so one clam’s lighting needs may not be enough for another’s, including the same species. But it’s safe to say if a clam is growing under a lower intensity, then it should continue to grow under those same conditions.
