Well a sad day for the reef. My derasa which I had for years is on its way out. Happened suddenly within the last 36 hours. Started w a gape then fast mantle recession and tear along the inhalant side. Ugh. No changes water tested w Hanna tests. Alk 8.5 1.026 78 430 1300 .06 and 5 for nitrates. No swings. No new additions. Just happens I guess part of the hobby. Rip.
On a positive note I did source a healthy squamosa. Will b checking on it on Thursday. Happier times

Yeah, when clams go they go fast.
It was beautiful and you enjoyed it for years, don't beat yourself up, clams are iffy in most cases... I know first hand!!!
Ty mr Santana. Yeah. Have to appreciate it while u can. See what Thursday brings to help deal w the change. I know my girl isn’t happy. Was the centerpiece.

Funny I was able to save it a while back w a fresh water dip RO water 5 gal bucket buffered to same ph alk and temp as system 20min. Bounced back from a pinched mantle.

Uggh, beautiful clam reduced to an empty shell. So glad you enjoyed viewing her all those years!

Ty. Big void in the display but hopeful a new squammy will fill in as the new rising star. Will post arrival on Thursday. Fingers x. Water is good. Hanna tests all within acceptable reef parameters.
Are you getting one local?

Thats too bad- was A BIG beauty.
Water seems to be in clam range although mine loves 1.025 salinity. Any hanna agents expired?
