Hi all just reading all these fish only threads as I plan on building a 2000ltr fish only

I've promised this tank will be well maintained and crystal clear water

So I need to be able to handle the p04 and nitrates

Do where do we start :)

Yes on and off for maybe 15 years.. Build all of my own tanks

Normally just soft corals but want to really go to work on the filtration this time

Display will have around 300kg of LR in it

I'm going to put a sump outside which will contain the skimmers etc

Was thinking a large sump under the tank with algae bed etc but i need to keep reading to see how I can filter this tank

For flow i plan on using a closed loop system

I currently have

1 x reeflowhammerhead/barracuda
1 x reeflow dart water
1 X MP40
2 X large vortech L2 pumps

Skimmers

2 x skimz monzter SM253 rated at 3000ltr each

My fish only predator tanks first i run ffilter floss, then to a fluidized sand filter, into the big skimmer. I also inject Ozone. Keeps water quality very clear, ozone is amazing for that. i also run calcium reactor and kalkreactor but i would not really say they are part of the filtration, although the skimmer works better with kalk so i thought it should be included.

Thanks for taking the time to reply
Can I ask what sand reactor do you use?
How do you control p04

I got a shock on how big the pump was

my 2 cents:
1. filter mat ( if not possible or would use to much filter roll then I would go with filter floss changed every other day.
2. over sized skimmer -look in to life reef.
3. loads of biological media
4. large algae turf scrubber
5. carbon/GFO reactor
6. large UV

I have never done Ozone but have thought about it.

Sounds like a good plan. The one thing be watch is your dissolved oxygen levels. With those big fish they can go down quite a bit. Of course your skimmer and surface agitation are a good start!

Thanks mat.. I use a x filter on my tbak now but may need a bigger one not sure if can DIY one

300kg of live rock is the plan

I'll look into a turf scrubber I did want low maintenance

I never normal use carbon but I do use ozone it's good stuff

As for skimmers I have 2 of them both rated at 3000ltr so I hope I'm covered on that part.
