Hey reefers just picked up a desjardini tang the other day is it normal for fish not to eat for the first day or 2. Because I bought a copperband butterfly and he didn’t eat for 4 days now he’s eating very healthy

So I should just wait another day or so to see if he starts eating? He’s grazing at the algae so that’s a sing he’s eating something
Yea that’s a good sign. Are you feeding good foods like frozen mysis or LRS reef frenzy type stuff? That stuff is hard to resist for fish.

Tangs overall can be reluctant to eat right after introduction...and in my experience, the larger the fish, sometimes the longer it takes to get it eating. I've taken to having the lfs feed a potential new addition while I observe and only take one home if it eats at the lfs. It's still not a guarantee, but successful introduction and long term success in your care is more likely. Good luck...Desjardinii tangs are faves of mine--I have one that's about 5" long, and it eats everything I offer.
