Hi!

I'm very new to the fish keeping hobby so apologies in advance for anything obvious

I started my saltwater tank about 6 months ago when I bought it 2 clownfish came with it (after the initial week setup) and unfortunately they both died of some white spot paricite.

And ever since then some weird brown slime is infesting my rocks/ glass and it will not go away someone suggested I try and wrap a blanket around it for a week to see if it would help It did a little but it gradually came back again.

What I have tried;
Wrapped tank in dark towel for a week

Bought algue prevention solution

The aquatic shop I bought this from suggested some red beans in a little bag to help nitrates?

Kept the light off

Changed 50 % of the water twice within two weeks

Taken it as far away form sunlight as possible.

Any help would be much appreciated as this is starting to draw me away from the hobby :(

Cheers

Bisky.

Welcome to R2R!
Did you have any pictures of your tank?

Hopefully you're describing something like #chrysophytes+cyano or better. Could be dino's though.

Pics will help. Even better, get a sample under a microscope (even a toy) and take some pics.

Thanks for the quick relpy guys

Should've posted pictures in the first place

It's nowhere near as bad as it was, since I blew it all off with a pipette and scooped it out

Come to think of it I googled 'Dino saltwater' and the photos are identical to what I had
