Hey all,

I have tried what feels like everything to get rid of this algae and I cannot figure it out- any help is greatly appreciated.

it is a very think dense algae with that roots into the rock and is very very hard Toto get off. Seems a lot like turf algae from what I saw but it has been impossible to get rid of. I have dosed hydrogen peroxide daily for a few weeks and didn’t make a dent. I have dosed vibrant every 2 weeks- then every week and now twice a week and it didn’t make a dent. I have tested my ro water and it shows 0 tds. I use plastic tweezers to remove about 60% of it every 2 days and after 2 days it is almost all back.

Alk-9.5
Ph-8.0
Nitrate-5.2
Phosphate is high and is .08

I complete a water change weekly and was using Turkish tropic Marin but switch to German 4-5 weeks ago. 10 gallon water change every week.

If you have nutrients you will have some algae in my opinion. Your nutrients are not high at all(maybe they would be without all the algae sucking them up but it is hard to say). I think best options are making better places for the algae to grow(refugiums/algae scrubbers) and/or having an adequate cleanup crew to recycle those nutrients(which then hopefully get exported via skimmer/refugium/scrubber/etc).

Refugiums/algae scrubbers are not an option while vibrant still in the system though. What cuc do you have? Have you tried things like urchins/abalones/large turbos?

Agreed. Need to do something to reduce nutrients or outcompete the algae in the display.
For removing the existing algae, have you tried Mexican turbos snails or a sea hair?
