Detached Leather coral

I had a leather coral on a rock that was kinda placed sideways, the coral was on the side and not on top. Well I looked in my tank this morning and the coral has come off the rock and fell to the bottom of the tank in the sand. Do I need to move it? Will it adjust itself ? Is it bad that its in the sand ? Im not trying to sound like an idiot, but im unsure if I need to move it or leave it. The coral itself is probably well over 6 months old, so its not a small coral. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
