Detecting and treating flukes

In preparation for starting my first tank in about 10 years soon, I've been reading up on quarantine procedures and disease prevention, and I see a lot of discussion about using a freshwater dip to detect flukes... but haven't found anything that describes the proper way to do this, what to look for, and how to deal with flukes if found. Can anyone go over this, or point me to a thread that does?
