Wondering what methods other reefers use to determine when their Carbon is exhausted and time to change.

Ive seen the bucket test on BRS, but what happens if your on a once a month WC schedule, or even further apart.

Some other methods i have thought of:

Par meter, when drops when measured from the same location.

A thin layer of purigen, when this changes color change the carbon.

Are there methods that others use, particular trace element test etc.

Excluding for this purpose changing at a randomly decided upon time span as a method.

Seems like a lot of unnecessary effort... I just change mine approximately every 12 weeks.
