Detrimming a 40 gal breeder?

got a while ago from pet smarts gallon sales i dont know the brand of the tank but wondering can i remove and make it rimless?

the center brace is on the bottom of the tank along with another trim i guess

good idea?

Bad idea, imo. Will eventually bow out and possibly blow a seam. They typically have pretty thin glass. My 65 rimless is 1/2" thick glass. Its a 36" long tank.

I've been curious of this. Since the trim on 40 breeders does not have a center strip is it mainly there for aesthetics and protection of consumer from glass edges or does it actually provide anything structural
