Detritus Accumulating in Water Column

I have had my tank for a few weeks and I have noticed a little bit of detritus in the tank. However, it seems to be getting worse. Its seems to be suspended in the water and the flow won’t do a thing.

How do I get rid of this? It is bothering so much!

Its just a simple filter pad with some ceramic rings

Alright, its an 18.5 gallon all in one with 2 bags of media and a filter pad.

I have 2 pieces of CaribSea LifeRock and Ocean Direct sand.

I also have 2 clowns, 4 Astrea snails, and 4 Hermit crabs

Water might be getting around that pad. Is there a way to put a filter sock in that or a caddy you could put floss into

I cant put a filter sock but floss I could definitely do, thanks for the help!
