Detritus In Our Reef Saver (type) Rock ?

I have a lot of the white dry dead rock, but I'm concerned about all the holes, tiny to large, trapping detritus, creating big headaches with nitrate, phosphate etc.

It could be a endless issue with this type of rock, can't it ?

Put it in a barrel with fresh mix saltwater, let it soak a couple of days and measure what comes out.

I plan on doing so, but I mean when the tank is established, months & years later.

I've used old rock in the past but before it goes in the tank it gets soaked and tested for leaching levels of Phosphate & Nitrate. HIgh Phos I might use lanthanum chloride or add some Chaetomorpha and a 6500K LED to remove it.

Hey buddy, again I'm not asking about curing the rock before using this them in a tank, I'm asking if the rock with so many holes will trap detritus and turning into a nitrate issue ?

Sorry for my confusion. I don't like dry rock myself but lots of people swear by it because it has no hitchhikers (just stuff that leeches).

My experience with dead rock is that it grows algae at first just like curing live rock will. That passes and you have resurrected rock.
