I've got a 180 gallon tank with a 4 foot long Ineternal overflow that feeds a 4 foot long by 10inch tall external overflow box. The system works amazing, but over time, detritus and stuff settles down to the bottom of the overflow.

Do any of you guys syphon out your overflow boxes from time to time?

I was considering adding a small powered in mine to keep stuff in suspension more so it can make its way to the sump. Or I'll just syphon it out periodically. It's just tough to get back there and clean.

Maybe put that powerhead on a timer so its only on for X amount of time a day? I dont think you necessarily need it running all day to accomplish all you want

Ohh I didn't think of that, idk why lol. Just plug it into the eb8 and call it a day. Done deal case closed lol. Thank you!!

I was gonna say if you don't have Apex, smart plugs are super easy and Alexa controllable. You can automate it to run 1+ times a day at certain times too and extremely easy to manually override. Or even if you don't want to take up a space on your EB8
