Detritus?

Woke up and it looks like I have rust all over the place in my tank. Is this detritus? Even my coralline is covered.

Did this show up overnight? Does it blow off easily? May want to check for dinoflagellates.

Yes, almost certainly not rust. Probably some algae/diatoms, dino's, etc. Not an emergency.

Nope, does not blow off at all.

How about with a toothbrush... I had a similar buildup. Didnt happen over night though. Happend over time. And when I realized that my rocks all looked like, well like dirty rocks and I couldn't see the coraline anymore, I hit them with a toothbrush and it all came off and my rocks are bright purple again.

That might be brown algae. How new is your tank. If it’s fairly new it’s the the tank cycle at work.

Same, everything’s open except the zoas. I’m pretty sure it’s diatoms after looking at pictures. I had this once before when I first cycled the tank. It just went away naturally. I dosed the tank with Vibrant. Anything else you would suggest.

All depends on your system. Few days to a week or 2.

agree let ride ,poss fresh water temperate dip 30 sec, swish ,thinking from the salt burn not the pump issue,watching ,glad to hear going better

Weird how it didn’t do anything to nassarius snails but killed all the turbos.
