Detritus?

I was lookin over my tank when I saw a bunch of stuff that looks like black dust on the rocks. It’s a decent amount on a few rocks and I’m assuming it’s because that’s where the detritus has decided to settle. Should I add another pump because currently I have an extra koralia nano pump that i wasn’t using because I thought it would be too much flow.

I also have 4 snails and 2 hermits and I didn’t realize they created that much detritus.

Do you use GFO or active carbon? it looks like carbon dust.

Thanks! I do have carbon. I guess I’ll take it out and siphon out the carbon dust with my water change tomorrow.

One more question. Does carbon dust float around in the tank because yesterday my tank got very cloudy.

It could if it is new and poorly rinsed

I put the carbon in about 2 months ago when I first started the tank. The bag was black so I’m guessing some of it did eventually leech into the tank. Thanks for the help!
