Do any of ya get a lot of detritus on your sump. And what ya do to get it from building up. I was thinking on adding a power head in the sump

A lot of people say thats the best way to keep detritus down inside the sump in between regular cleanings. I am planning on this as well.

Agreed, but with an in sump skimmer a lot of people have said that to help keep it suspended within the skimmer section they simply add a powerhead.

Without a skimmer u kinda want it to settle to syphon out later

I figure I would rather have it there than in the display. I just syphon it out when I do a water change.

I let it build up in my sump then siphon it out every so ofter during water changes. Like pappy said, I would rather have it in the sump where I can control it. If you are running agood skimmer then a power head in the sump will help keep it suspended for extraction.

I run a filter sock, therefore very little detritus. But when there is some, I just add a mj1200 to the skimmer section and let it get skimmed out. I also take all my water for WC's from my sump as well. I ran my sump without a sock for a month and I was amazed at all the crap that built up in just a short time. I know some people like their sump/fuges all dirty filthy, but I like to keep my nutrients as low as possible.

I run a MJ1200 in sump to blast any detritus into the water column and back in the tank. Sump stays clean, at least in the MJ chamber.
